Jennifer Coughlan

MBA, BEP – CEO

Jennifer Coughlan has experience building and leading sales and operations teams, and leading corporate strategy and business development initiatives. As CEO, Jen leads UMS’ sales, marketing, and auditing teams with the goal of finding new ways to add more value to more clients. She holds a BS in Chemistry and Economics and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Brian Coughlan

Brian Coughlan

MBA, PE, BSEE, MSEE, CEM, CEA, CEP – Founder & President

Brian Coughlan is the President and Founder of UMS. He is a registered Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Energy Procurement Professional, and Certified Demand Side Management Professional. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from VA Tech, an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from UNC–Chapel Hill. Prior to founding UMS, Brian worked for 15 years as an engineer and manager at Carolina Power & Light Company (now Duke Energy Progress).

VP of Financial Operations

Jenni Loomis has extensive experience in business operations, finance, and administration, as well as demonstrated success in government contract management. As VP of Financial Operations, Jenni leads UMS’ financial and HR operations and identifies new ways to streamline our business operations.

Ashley Bradshaw

Ashley Bradshaw

Corporate Sales Manager

Ashley brings in over 20 years of B2B sales, sales management, and marketing experience. She currently leads the corporate base sales team calling on national clients. She holds a BA degree in Marketing from James Madison University and resides in Wilmington, NC. She also serves as a mentor for UNCW Cameron Schools of Business students.

Kelly Kinstrey

CEP – Regional Sales Manager

Kelly Kinstrey has worked at UMS for over 10 years serving in various roles. As Regional Sales Manager, she leads a team of Account Managers located in multiple states. Kelly guides and motivates her team members to expand the client base, exceed goals and excel in their career development. She holds a BA in Public Relations from Rowan University. She is also a certified Energy Procurement Professional through the Association of Energy Engineers.

James Horne

James Horne

BEP-IT, CEP-IT – Senior Analyst & Auditing Team Technical Lead

James joined UMS in 2016. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington in May 2015. He holds a BS in Business Administration with a double concentration in Finance and Economics. James is also a Certified Business Energy Professional. James is a senior analyst and serves as the technical lead over the team of auditing analysts.

Nicolette Horne

Nicolette Horne

BEP, CEP, CMVP, CEA-IT, CLEP-IT – Senior Analyst & Invoicing Team Lead

Nicolette joined UMS in 2015 and works as a senior analyst in the UMS invoicing department. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics, both from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Nicolette has earned several energy certifications from the Association of Energy Engineers including Business Energy Professional and Certified Energy Procurement Professional since joining the UMS team.

Karly Plemmons

MA - Marketing Manager

Karly became an integral part of UMS following the completion of her Master's in Integrated Marketing Communication at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Armed with extensive educational and professional expertise, she assumes the role of Marketing Manager, overseeing all marketing initiatives and collateral. In addition to her managerial responsibilities, Karly actively contributes to fostering a robust and positive customer experience at UMS.
