Giving back is probably not the first thing you think of when a casino comes to mind. However, it is at the heart of both Wind Creek Hospitality and their tribe the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. They want to be good neighbors in their community and help those
who are in need. This mindset helps to give Wind Creek a desire to find savings anywhere they can in their operations.
When Wind Creek leadership was approached by Utility Management Services, they put UMS in touch with William Romero, the Executive Director of Facilities. William invested the time to learn about utility rates and utility bill analyses, asking a lot of detailed questions that UMS was happy to answer. The more informed a client is, the more confidence they will have in the benefit to their organization.
Wind Creek had already been assured by their power providers that their facilities were on the best rates based on their operations. However, after learning about an independent third-party electric bill analysis, they chose to “trust but verify” and work with UMS.
After about a month, the analysis results were in. Over $140,000 in annual savings was identified by UMS! These savings were achieved with no operational changes at any of Wind Creek’s facilities.
