As the Corporate Manager for UMS, Dawn Scudella works with current and potential customers to identify opportunities for significant cost recoveries and cost savings. Dawn has extensive experience in customer relations programs, sales, training, and business development. Prior to joining UMS, she consulted with small and medium-sized businesses to identify opportunities for growth and expansion through direct development and implementation of custom sales, training and marketing programs. Dawn graduated summa cum laude from Marian College with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and from Moraine Park Business School with a degree in Accounting. She is an active volunteer and has worked with numerous non-profit organizations, including the CEC (Coastal Entrepreneurial Council), the NC World Trade Organization, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Sarus Festival for Performing Arts, and the Literacy Council. Dawn is also a member of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.

Chris Ivy is the NC Regional Manager for UMS. Prior to joining UMS, Chris had 17 years experience in the grocery industry with an extensive background in corporate buying, selling and management. He owned a multi-million dollar/year, home-based wholesale food broker business, which dealt with commodities trading between retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. Chris achieved a BS in Marketing and Organizational Management from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, attending college on a full academic scholarship. Chris resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife and two sons.

John Jones has been an Area Manager for UMS in the Triad area since 2004. John is a proven business professional dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to our clients. From his successful career in the chemical and furniture industries, John brings a thorough understanding of the challenges facing manufacturing and business owners today. John graduated with a BS degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC and a Master of Divinity degree from the Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

For the 20 years prior to joining UMS, Kathi Smith and her husband owned a manufacturing company in Sanford, NC which produced textile machinery, precision automotive components, a consumer gas grill and many other meticulously machined and fabricated products. Kathi is a graduate of Slippery Rock State University in Pennsylvania and attended New York City University graduate school of business. She has been active in civic affairs, serving on a project for the Governor of New Hampshire. Kathi has also served as Trustee of the North Carolina Museum of Art, is a past President of The Temple Theatre Company and Temple Theatre Foundation in Sanford, and is a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

Based in Asheville, NC, Wayne Elks is an Area Manager for the western part of the state. Prior to joining UMS, Wayne was employed with Progress Energy (formerly CP&L) for over 25 years. While with Progress Energy, he served in many capacities, ranging from start-up fire protection at a nuclear plant and Quality Assurance for Fire Protection, to customer service, sales, marketing, and business development roles. Prior to the utility industry, Wayne worked in direct sales, was a paid firefighter with the City of Raleigh, and performed as assistant Fire Marshall at UNC Chapel Hill. Wayne also served with the US Navy during the Vietnam era conflict.
